The Diablo IV open beta period was announced by Blizzard yesterday, Feb 18, to take place in March. Blizzard has broken the beta period up into two different phases. The first phase, taking place from March 17-19, is an Early Access Open Beta period open to all platforms who have pre-ordered the upcoming ARPG title. The second phase takes place from March 24-26 and is open to everyone regardless of whether they have pre-ordered or not. Blizzard is still holding the June 6 launch date.

About the Diablo IV Open Beta

Gameplay Focus

During the open beta period, players will have the opportunity to explore the entirety of the campaign’s Prologue and Act 1, including quests and dungeons.. Players will only be able to reach level 25 during this beta testing period.

Forums

Starting March 17, Blizzard will open up Diablo IV forums as a channel for reporting bugs and providing feedback about the game.

How to Register and Install

Physical Copy Route

To access the Early Access period, you must register the access code you receive from Blizzard at diablo.com/beta. Be warned, though, that you will only receive a copy of the access code once so don’t lose it. From the webpage, login to your battle.net account, enter your access code, and select your platform. Click on Redeem and wait for a “success” page confirming your registration.

Digital Copy Route

If you pre-purchased the game digitally, all you have to do is download the game when the download portal opens for the platform you pre-ordered for.

Downloading

PC players will be able to access it from their battle.net launcher. If you’ve never downloaded a beta or PTR (Public Test Realm) version of a Blizzard game before, you go to the GAME VERSION dropdown menu and select the beta version of the game to install. Console players will receive a download code via email for the email address linked to their battle.net account.

The download portal opens for Early Access players on March 15 at 9AM PST (12PM EST). Regular Open Beta players can download the game starting March 22 at 9AM PST (12PM EST). Blizzard also notes that you do not need to redownload the game for the Open Beta if you already got it during the Early Access period.
